What Difficulties Does DONT SPLASH Have? (Easy, Normal, Hard)
Three: Easy, Normal and Hard — and the one difference anyone has actually measured between them is how many monsters hunt you: 3, 5 and 7 respectively. Everything else you might assume changes (monster speed, hearing range, rewards, the map itself) has no verifiable source yet, as of October 29, 2026. The evidence for all three modes comes from the same place: one channel’s solo series that cleared every difficulty start to finish without a single capture.
| Difficulty | Status | Best evidence (checked Oct 29, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | Player-verified | Solo no-capture run titled at 3 monsters, around Oct 24, 2026 |
| Normal | Player-verified | Solo no-capture run titled at 5 monsters, Oct 25, 2026 |
| Hard | Player-verified | Solo no-capture run titled at 7 monsters, Oct 26, 2026 |
| Nightmare | Unconfirmed | One untraceable video title — no second source anywhere |
That the modes exist at all is corroborated beyond one series: a 75,612-view overview from a channel with 467,000 subscribers sums up its testing as covering “various difficulties and camera perspectives” — a big channel treating the difficulty spread as one of the game’s defining variables. What nobody outside the game has documented is the picker itself: where in the lobby you choose a mode, whether anything is locked behind progress, and whether you can switch mid-run are all unverified.
The reason this question is worth a dedicated page: the game is enormous for its age — 94,377 concurrent players and 72,071,024 lifetime visits per the official Roblox API at verification, on a title created October 17, 2026 and last updated October 28 — so thousands of new players are staring at the mode select every day. If you have not played yet, the beginner guide covers joining a server and your first clear; this page is about which mode to queue.

How Many Monsters per Difficulty? (3 / 5 / 7)
The counts circulating in the community are 3 on Easy, 5 on Normal and 7 on Hard, measured from The Almighty M’s solo series in which every run of every difficulty finished without a capture. Each number comes straight from the run’s title, so the evidence is real but single-source: player-measured, not developer-published.
| Difficulty | Monsters (community-measured) | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 3 | Solo no-capture full run, video title, around Oct 24, 2026 |
| Normal | 5 | Solo no-capture full run, video title, Oct 25, 2026 (92 views when checked) |
| Hard | 7 | Solo no-capture full run, video title, Oct 26, 2026 |
The Normal-mode run below is the clearest of the three to watch: five hunters patrolling the same water, one player, zero captures. Our monster guide explains why stacking hunters is the game’s real difficulty lever — a blind creature that hunts by sound is dangerous in proportion to how many ears the water has.
[DONT SPLASH] 5 Monsters Normal Mode Solo WITHOUT GETTING CAUGHT — The Almighty M
What the series does not tell you is everything else. Monster count is the only per-difficulty variable with any measurement behind it:
| What might change between modes | Evidence (as of Oct 29, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Monster count — 3 / 5 / 7 | One channel’s solo series, video titles, Oct 24–26, 2026 |
| Monster speed, hearing range, aggression | No source measures any of it |
| Stage count or layout per difficulty | No source — the nine-stage map reading is difficulty-agnostic |
| Coin payouts or rewards per difficulty | No source — see the rewards section below |
Easy vs Normal vs Hard: Which Should You Pick?
Pick Easy first. Three hunters instead of five or seven is the difference between learning the map’s dry lines and fighting for every crossing, and the game’s core survival skill — never splash, because the monster hunts by sound — is one you can only practice while alive. The movement rules that keep runs quiet are in our survival tips; against three hunters you get the repetitions to make them habit.
The climb, as pacing advice (not tested progression — nothing documents mode unlocks):
- Learn on Easy (3 monsters). Learn which crossings are forced water and which have dry platforms; the counts you internalize here hold on every mode.
- Rehearse on Normal (5). Two extra hunters means longer sound exposure windows close faster — the point where thrown Pebbles stop being optional.
- Prove it on Hard (7). Same mechanics, densest tracking. Section six below has the proof it is soloable, so nobody has to talk you out of waiting for a squad.
One date-stamped caveat on all of it: the difficulty numbers themselves ride on a single series of runs, and the game has updated as recently as October 28. If a future patch re-scales the modes, this page re-measures before it re-recommends.
How Long Does Each Difficulty Take? (Solo Speedrun Times)
Only two solo baselines have been published, and both come from the October 21, 2026 build: 2:49 on Easy and 5:25 on Normal. No solo Hard time exists — the Hard run that proves soloability (section six) carries no timestamp in its title or description.
| Difficulty | Solo reference time | Source | Recorded on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 2:49 | Solo Easy run, published Oct 21, 2026 (152 views when checked) | Oct 21 build |
| Normal | 5:25 | Solo Normal run, published Oct 21, 2026 (131 views when checked) | Oct 21 build |
| Hard | None published | Solo Hard no-capture run exists but states no time | Late Oct 2026 |
[DONT SPLASH] Solo Easy Mode 2:49 WITHOUT GETTING CAPTURED — The Almighty M
The takeaway is not the clock — it is that a clean Easy run is minutes, not marathons, which is what makes it the right classroom. Even at speed, from the mid-map onward each crossing eats minutes; the full-run timestamps in the ending explained breakdown (14:33 and 17:03 on October 26 builds) show where the time actually goes.
Is There a Nightmare Mode in DONT SPLASH?
Unconfirmed — do not plan around one. Our search verification on October 29, 2026 surfaced exactly one artifact: a video titled as beating Nightmare mode in the game, indexed by Google. Cross-checking it found nothing — YouTube search for the mode returns no such upload we could open, the video’s ID could not be verified, no other source mentions the mode, and the official Roblox API exposes no difficulty data at all. One untraceable title against zero corroborating sources reads as clickbait or a different game, and that is how we treat it.
The contrast with the three real modes is the tell: Easy, Normal and Hard each have a dated, watchable, full-length solo run behind them. Nightmare has a sentence. If a fourth mode exists, the lobby’s difficulty list is where it will show — and that UI has not been documented yet either.
Can You Beat Hard Mode Solo? (Yes — Here’s the Proof)
Yes — the full run exists. The video below is a solo Hard clear with zero captures, published in late October 2026 with 540 views when we checked, and it is the same run Google surfaces for the game’s difficulty searches. It closes the loop on the whole series: one player, three difficulties, no captures anywhere — Hard included.
[DONT SPLASH] Solo Hard Mode WITHOUT GETTING CAPTURED — The Almighty M
Solo is not the handicap people assume it is, because the game’s defense is silence, not firepower — nobody talks while they are listening for splashes anyway. What a squad actually buys you is recovery: official game media shows a player pulling a drowning teammate out of the water by rope as the creature closes in, a save no solo run can make. Public servers hold up to 10 players and private servers are disabled, per the official API — the beginner guide walks the join flow.

At seven hunters, the confirmed toolkit earns its slot: thrown Pebbles pull attention off your line, and flares appear in official media as escape equipment — the items and tools guide covers what each does and which numbers are still unverified.
Does Difficulty Change Rewards? (Coins and Unlocks)
Nobody has measured this. No source documents different Coin payouts, unlockables, or end-of-run rewards per difficulty — not the run series, not the creator overviews, not the official description. The confirmed economy is difficulty-agnostic as far as anyone has shown: runs earn Coins, Coins buy upgrades and equipment, and that kit extends survival. What the shop stocks and what it charges is its own open question, tracked in the items and tools guide.
| Reward question | Answer (as of Oct 29, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Does Hard pay more Coins? | Not documented — no per-difficulty payout exists in any source |
| Do modes unlock items or cosmetics? | Not documented |
| Is finishing rewarded beyond banked Coins? | Not documented — what the ending itself gives is equally open |
One shortcut that does not exist at any difficulty: redeem codes. As of our latest check there are none — runs are the only income — and our codes tracker documents why, updating the day that changes.
Difficulty FAQ (Last Verified: October 29, 2026)
The quick-answer card on this page covers the six questions players search most, each answer dated. The open questions it deliberately does not answer:
Which difficulty questions are still open?
As of October 29, 2026: whether monster speed, hearing range or behavior change per difficulty beyond the measured 3 / 5 / 7 counts; whether stages or layout differ by mode; every reward question in the table above; where the mode picker sits in the lobby and whether anything is locked; whether Nightmare mode exists at all; and re-measured speedrun times on the current nine-stage build. When in-game testing settles any of these, the answer moves up into the guide proper.
More verified coverage — movement rules, the blind monster’s tracking, stage routes and the codes watch — collects in the guides hub. Bookmark the homepage while the game is patching almost daily: every page on this site carries the date it was last checked.
